Loading ...I remember reading an article in a sports car magazine once, a review of how various regularly available cars performed on a real race track. The reviewer's favorite was a Porsche 950, not because it was the fastest of the bunch, but because it was the one he felt the safest in two feet from a guard rail at 150 mph. Of course, all Meucci pool cues have a similar reputation. Check out used cues at eBay and you'll find that any Meucci will have numerous bids. But, let's take a moment to check out the Meucci Pool Cue 9712BD in particular. The first thing you notice is, well, how perfect it is. I know that sounds like a meaningless statement, but when you hold a Meucci pool cue in your hands, it just reeks of perfection. Somehow it seems smoother, straighter, more perfectly balanced than any of the characterless machine-made "high-tech" cues that are now flooding the market.
But, okay, what about the hit? Well, I'm definitely a traditionalist. I like my hardwood more than my graphite. Is that a bad thing? Not a bit. The Black Dot Birdseye maple shaft is all about reduced deflection and you know it the first time you hit with it. The feel is unreal and the power comes with so little effort it's Porsche-like. I prefer white Irish linen wrap, which is another reason I've always gotten along with Meucci pool cues. Of course, you start to notice these details when the cue ball starts doing what you tell it to for a change.
Bottom line: Give one of these Meucci pool cues a spin at the pool table and you will not be disappointed!
